In a joint operation to combat the proliferation of fake official documents, the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL), in collaboration with the National Identification Authority (NIA), has apprehended an individual in possession of a counterfeit gazette.

This action is part of the ongoing Gazette 360 campaign, an initiative launched by GPCL to raise public awareness about the official gazette. The campaign aims to educate citizens on the purpose and importance of authentic gazettes and highlight the legal repercussions of creating, distributing, or using fake versions.

According to the Managing Director of GPCL, Nana Kwasi Boatey Esq, the company is committed to tackling this issue head-on. “We are declaring war on fake gazettes and working with the Ghana Police Service to arrest and prosecute anyone found with a counterfeit document,” the Managing Director stated.

The public is strongly advised to conduct all gazette-related business exclusively with the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, as it is the sole institution legally mandated to issue these documents. The Managing Director of GPCL cautioned against using third parties or “goro boys,” stressing that such practices are illegal and risky.

To improve service delivery, the Ghana Publishing Company Limited has implemented a new 24-hour service to ensure customers receive prompt and efficient processing for all their official documentation needs, hence no need to go through a third party.
